Although Vietnam's timber and timber exports increased by more than 62% (year-on-year growth) from January to June 2021, the fourth wave of epidemic has damaged the supply chain since then.

Due to the interruption of domestic production, Vietnam's timber and timber products exports fell in September. According to vivorest, the goal of achieving $14 billion in export sales in 2021 is now unlikely to be achieved.
The total export value of timber and wood products in September 2021 is estimated to be US $750 million, a decrease of 35% over September 2020; Among them, the total export of wood products is estimated to be US $420 million, a year-on-year decrease of 55%. So far (from January to September 2021), the total export of wood and wood products has increased by 31%, estimated at US $11.1 billion. Wood products accounted for $8.4 billion (also an increase of 30.9%).
From September 14 to 21, 2021, the export volume of wood and wood products was 177.8 million US dollars, an increase of 2.2% over the previous week. Among them, the sales of wooden furniture was US $98.5 million, an increase of 5.1% over the previous week.
The timber import volume in September 2021 is estimated to be 505500 cubic meters, with a value of 182 million US dollars. Compared with August 2021, the total sales volume and value increased by 3.2% and 1.9% respectively, but decreased by 2.8% and 18.3% compared with the same period last year. In the first nine months of 2021, the cumulative imported timber (logs and sawn timber) is estimated to be 5.15 million cubic meters, with a value of US $1.71 billion, a year-on-year increase of 21.7% and a value increase of 33.6%.
From September 14 to 21, 2021, Vietnam's imports of logs and sawn timber were US $55.2 million, a decrease of 7.1% over the previous week.
The epidemic continues to seriously affect production and enterprises. Exports of ceramics and wooden arts (wooden handicrafts) fell sharply in September 2021, estimated at US $7 million, 45% lower than August 2021 and 52% lower than the same period last year.
